The Friends welcome Tricia as a Trustee
Tricia Smith MBE
Tricia has a background in the voluntary sector having worked and volunteered for the
British Red Cross for nearly 20 years before moving to the Island and joining the Isle of
Wight Trust in 2018 as Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response. She
has extensive experience in emergency response and in health and social care at all levels,
and was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2018 for her work in Crisis response.
Working in St.Mary’s Hospital , Tricia has seen first-hand how important the Friends of St.Mary’s are
and is a frequent visitor to the shop so when she saw an advert for new Trustees jumped at
the chance to be part of and contribute to such a worthwhile Charity
Tricia’s husband was born on the Isle of Wight and they were both delighted to be able to be
able to move here when Tricia took up her role at the Isle of Wight Trust, having sailed to and
round the Island on many an occasion. Although a fair-weather sailor, Tricia loves being on
and by the sea, walking and reading and spending time with her grandchildren who love
coming to visit.
