Friends of St Mary’s Hospital Trustees were pleased to agree funding of £4178.00 for Pro- Interactive 32” Interactive educational touch tablet for The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre at

Emily Reed works in the asthma and allergy department as well as working as a bank nurse on the children’s unit. While working on the children’s ward she was really impressed by the large mobile tablet unit, funded by the Friends in the 2022 Friends Fund applications, to distract/entertain the children while on the ward and found it extremely beneficial for the patient.  In the allergy unit, children can be waiting around for up to 2 hrs during their appointment times, so she thought it would be beneficial for the allergy unit to apply to the Friends for funding, be able to have a similar large mobile tablet and used by children of all ages.

“The interaction tablet that was kindly donated by the Friends Fund 2023. This device has helped to make the waiting room at the asthma and allergy clinic more welcoming for the children and their families who attend our clinics, and to provide vital distraction for when it is required.

Thank you for all your help with funding the device.”

It was so lovely to meet Alex and Rowan as it was a “meant to be” moment as when asked if they would like to be in the photo Alex replied “it would be a pleasure” as her step grandad was a Trustee of the Friends before his passing. Jim Bodle was a very valued member of the Trustees and is still greatly missed by all at the Friends. A lovely and emotional moment to share.
