Thank you to Jussna, her family and Pathology team …

Jussna’s “yummy” donation to Friends Fund of £1700 part-funded the chair by arranging takeaway curry for colleagues.

Jussna Mateen and her family from Eastern Eye Indian restaurant in Sandown, the family restaurants bear the cost of the food, preparation and packing and the income from the exercise is then donated to the Friends.

Mark Stevens - Service Delivery Manager - Isle of Wight Ambulance Service

let us know….

"The powered stair-climbing chair has been an excellent addition to our Patient Transport Service and we are extremely grateful to the Friends of St Mary's Hospital for funding its purchase.

The chair helps to reduce the manual handling demands placed on our crews, supporting safer patient movement and helping to mitigate some of the risks associated with assisting patients up and down stairs. It is a widely used piece of equipment and has proved popular with both staff and patients.

In some situations, the chair enables a task that may previously have required two crews to be completed by a single crew, improving efficiency and helping us make the best use of our resources. This can contribute to quicker responses for other patients by releasing crews back into service sooner.

Most importantly, it enhances the experience for patients by providing a safe, comfortable and dignified method of transport within their home environment. We are very grateful to the Friends of St Mary's Hospital and everyone involved in supporting this donation."
