Friends Fund £3861.00 for Mammography Chair

The chair allows for patients to be seated whilst a mammogram is undertaken. This chair also enables the patient to stay seated after the mammogram for transportation around the department for further imaging/testing. Previously patients moved between the department rooms and transfer to multiple chairs, increasing the risk of falls. In “doubling up” as a wheelchair, this allows the patient to become situated once. Maintaining their comfort throughout the appointment.

Jill Shead, Clinical Lead IOW Breast Screening Unit let us know….

“The positioning chair that has been kindly funded by the Friends has been welcomed by all staff. Having use of the chair enables patients to be wheeled around the department easily, comfortably and safely.  They can stay in the chair to be positioned for their mammogram and then wheeled to the ultrasound room which is very welcomed by people with restricted or limited mobility.

For the staff, the chair is ergonomically designed and thoughtfully designed to enable easy positioning for mammograms.  It is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre.  It makes positioning of the patient a dream without the need to stretch into ungainly positions to achieve good quality images safely.”
