Friends Fund £318.00 for I PAD – Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team
Many clients have communication deficits as a result of their stroke. Their communication can be impact on their ability to understand and express their needs and wishes. It can also impede on their ability to read and write. Communication difficulties can be very frustrating and distressing for stroke survivors who are not able to express their needs, wishes and emotions with health staff, carers and family. The iPad can be used as a communication aid to support clients with expressing themselves, allowing them to engage with the world more independently which will have a significant impact on the physiologically wellbeing and overall recovery, as well as the wellbeing of their families.

“Charitable funds from the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital have allowed us to purchase a I pad which has specific Speech and Language Therapy Apps which can be used with our patients that have language and communication difficulties following Stroke. The I pad has enhanced our speech and language therapy sessions by providing an individualised and interactive approach to delivering therapy. Thank you! “
