Friends agree funding for a cycle rack outside of the Breast Screening Unit
The Friends Trustees were delighted to agree funding of £307 for a cycle rack outside of the Breast Screening Unit. It was explained that the unit is keen to encourage staff and patients to the unit to cycle instead of drive if they are able. The Trustees were keen to support this idea and to promote the use of the cycle rack to all staff and visitors.
Jill Shead (Lead Radiographer BSU) commented;
“Bikes now a days are very valuable. Some staff and patients enjoy the exercise to get to work or their appointment but are worried about the security of their chosen and often only mode of transport.
Their ride into work or appointment is a pleasurable experience, generally along the cycle track, and the stress of parking is far removed.
We requested the bike rack as having their valuable bikes out of sight was adding to anxiety levels in case of any interference and them not being roadworthy when they return to them.
By having their treasured bikes in a more visible location will ensure our keen cyclists can be assured their bikes are safe and secure. They can then enjoy an exhilarating ride home, arriving in a good frame of mind after the challenges of the day, ready to embrace family life again.”
